Linguistics

I specialize in linguistics, particularly in the universality and individuality of language, comparing Japanese with other languages in the East and the West from various perspectives. In the Department of Japanese Language and Literature, I teach “Contrastive Linguistics,” “Japanese Language Exercises,” and other classes. I also teach “Introduction to Linguistics,” a common core class in the Faculty of Letters, in which I teach the history of linguistic and Japanese language studies as well as try to give a clear explanation of the basic concept of linguistic studies, which is essential for the study of any language.
