Association of Gakushuin International Social Sciences Studies:AGISSS
Overview of AGISSS
Message from the President
The Association of Gakushuin International Social Sciences Studies (AGISSS) is a collaborative organization uniting ISS students and faculty, including full-time professors, part-time lecturers, visiting researchers, and grant-in-aid scholars. Our commitment at AGISSS is to advance social sciences and English-language education, facilitate academic exchanges between Gakushuin University and other institutions, and nurture a community spirit among our members.
ISS boasts a diverse academic community, consisting of 19 full-time faculty members and up to 200 students each year. The expertise of our faculty spans a wide array of subjects, including but not limited to English studies, linguistics, gender studies, international business law, macroeconomics, marketing, international accounting, and regional studies focusing on areas like Asia and Africa. This diverse expertise underscores ISS as a multidisciplinary hub rather than a specialized group, fostering collaborative research across varied fields. All faculty members bring international experience to the table, with a third being international citizens. Developing globally-minded students who can thrive in an increasingly interconnected world is at the core of ISS's mission.
ISS is exploring initiatives such as:
1 Publishing research paper series, discussion paper series, and annual reports (reporting on the educational and research activities of the faculty and staff).
2 Planning and hosting lectures.
3 Planning and hosting research seminars.
4 Supporting activities in advanced seminar classes.
We extend a warm invitation to all ISS members, including students, to join AGISSS. By engaging with us, you have the opportunity to make a meaningful impact within ISS, Gakushuin University, and the wider community. We eagerly anticipate your involvement and contributions.
