Congratulations on your admission to your economics major. Economics in Japanese (“KEIZAIGAKU”) is derived from the phrase, “Stabilize the lives of the people and govern the country”, and is therefore a very ambitious academic discipline. However, economic phenomena are really complicated and include uncertainty and issues of observation that make data analysis difficult. Over this major in econometrics we will try to solve problems using probabilistic logic and statistics, and provide some objective verification of economic theory. Please study hard to enrich your university days. They will never come again.
