International students enjoy a Kabuki performance

7 Sep 2023

With the support of Kasumi Kaikan, a general incorporated association, the International Centre provides international students with opportunities to familiarize themselves with traditional Japanese performing arts.

On July 8, a total of 25 international students and Japanese volunteer students visited the National Theatre to see a performance of Kabuki, one of such traditional arts. The theatre prepared leaflets to provide tips on how to enjoy Kabuki and arranged an explanatory demonstration by an actor to help the attending international students understand Kabuki. Thanks to the leaflets and demonstration, they were able to enjoy and deepen their understanding of Kabuki even though it was their first encounter with this Japanese performing art.

The international students could also have a social interaction with Japanese volunteer students by enjoying the Kabuki performance together.
