Associate Professor Soyeon Kim's Seminar Hosted an International Joint Presentation.

On December 15, 2024, Soyeon Kim's seminar from Gakushuin University's Faculty of International Social Sciences hosted an international joint presentation event in collaboration with students from Singapore Management University (SMU), under the guidance of Professor Ho Jack Young. The event centered on the theme of "Diversity, Culture, and Gender in the Workplace."
A total of ten teams participated in the presentation, comprising five teams from Gakushuin University and five from SMU, presenting the findings of their empirical research related to the theme.
The presentations explored diversity from various perspectives, analyzing its influences on organizations through factors such as cultural background, gender, age, and nationality. Moreover, the presentations and discussions addressed societal perceptions of diversity, existing stereotypes, and the roles that organizations and society play in fostering and leveraging diversity.

Singapore Management University
1. Relationships Between Family Planning and Work and Life Balance: Implications for Organizational Policies and Practices.
2. Evaluate How Traditional Gender Norms Have Constructed Gendered Occupations in Japan and Singapore's Workforce.
3. How Are University Undergraduate Conceptions of Gender Affecting Their Career Aspirations?
4. How Do Gender and Nationality Shape Leadership Roles in School Clubs, and How Do These Roles Impact Cross-Cultural Communication in Multinational Workplaces?
5. Exploring How Environmental Influences Such as Institutional and Social Context Shape Opinions on Gender Equality in Japan--to What Extent Does an Individual Feel They Have to Adhere to The 'Norm'?
On the day of the event, representatives from NTT Data Institute of Management Consulting and Professor Mary Quek from Meiji University participated, contributing to stimulating discussions through insightful exchanges and interactive Q&A sessions.
Students from both universities collaborated throughout the research process, supporting tasks such as translating survey and interview questions and distributing questionnaires. Their collaboration extended into the preparation phase, leading up to the final presentations. This joint presentation provided students with intellectual stimulation and valuable opportunities for both academic and personal growth. Additionally, engaging in in international collaboration allowed them to expand their perspectives and nurture emotional and cultural development.
Looking ahead, both Gakushuin University and Singapore Management University aim to further strengthen their academic and global partnerships, contributing to the mutual growth and advancement of both Universities.
