About
Gakushuin University
Gakushuin was founded in 1877.
The new Gakushuin University opened its doors in 1949. Students and faculty engage in discussions as equals, sharing and pursuing common interests. We have preserved these traditions and respect our free and open school culture.
In 2026, the Faculty of Intercultural Studies, the Graduate School of International Social Sciences and the Graduate School of International Cultural Relations were established.
Gakushuin has 6 faculties and 20 departments, including those in the humanities, social sciences and natural sciences, as well as graduate schools.
These are operated on a verdant and welcoming campus, Manabi no Mori, in Mejiro district of Tokyo.
The intellectual exchanges and encounters with diverse values here will bridge fields and cultivate individuals capable of leading co-creation.
