【11/7(土)開催】学習院大学グランドデザイン2039 国際シンポジウム / 【Nov 7 Sat.】Gakushuin University Grand Design 2039 International Symposium

学習院大学国際センター主催（共催：学習院大学大学院身体表象文化学専攻／学習院大学文学会）により、国際シンポジウム「日本の大衆文化における動物の表象―擬人化、他者化、動物化、そして･･･―」を開催いたします。

本シンポジウムでは、日本の大衆文化における「動物」の表象について考えます。第1部では、西欧文学・歴史・映画の研究者3名が、それぞれ「蛸」、「狐」、「馬」をテーマに発表を行います。第2部では、文筆家、漫画家、小説家の3名が、自作における動物表現を起点として、このテーマについて語り合います。第3部ではフロアも交え、「人間」もまた「動物」であるという視点から、全体で議論します。

本イベントはハイブリッド形式（対面・Zoom）で開催され、日本語から英語への同時通訳（日→英のみ）もZoomにて提供されます。参加費無料・対面参加は事前登録不要ですので、学内外を問わず皆様のご参加を心よりお待ちしております。

Gakushuin University International Centre (Co-organized by Gakushuin University Graduate Course in Cultural Studies on Corporeal and Visual Representation / Gakushuin University Literary Society) is pleased to announce the International Symposium: "Representations of Animals in Japanese Popular Culture -Anthropomorphism, Othering, Animalization, and Beyond...-"

This symposium explores the representation of animals in Japanese popular culture. In Part 1, three scholars specializing in Western literature, history, and film will each give a presentation focusing on a different animal: the octopus, the fox, and the horse. In Part 2, a writer, a manga artist, and a novelist will discuss the theme, drawing on their own portrayals of animals in their respective works. In Part 3, the audience will be invited to join the discussion, which will consider the broader theme from the perspective that humans, too, are animals.

This symposium will be held in a hybrid format (in person and via Zoom). Simultaneous interpretation from Japanese into English will be available for participants joining via Zoom only. Admission is free, and no advance registration is required for in-person attendance. We warmly welcome your participation!
